Five Ways to Speed up your Connection to the Internet
Uncategorized December 17th, 2007Most people buy computers these days for just one thing – to surf the internet. Never mind word processing and photo editing; most people know their way over the world wide web but they don’t know the first thing about notepads and what the recycle bin is for.
This is the reason why for them, speeding up connection to the internet is the most important thing. The technical support teams built by computer manufacturers handle cases of slow internet connection more than any other concerns. But really, you need not call your computer’s support group every time your feel your computer is slowing down. Just follow these tips and you should be able to speed up your connection easily:
1. Clear the temporary internet files folder.
If you use internet explorer, the temporary internet files folder can be found on the Tools tab right at the top. Go to options and then click the button that says Delete Files. The cache is where all previously viewed pages are stored. They are supposed to make internet surfing faster. But not if some of the files stored in there are damaged or if the cache is too full that newer pages can’t be stored. Speeding up your system could be done with a simple click.
2. Make sure you don’t use proxies when connecting to the internet.
Proxies are servers that you connect to before you establish a connection to the internet. Basically, if you use proxies, you don’t connect to the internet directly. And your surfing speed relies on two things: the speed of your connection to the server and the speed of the server in connecting to the internet and then transferring the data back to you. So if you can connect to the internet without going through proxies, that’s going to be faster for you.
3. Make sure that your computer has absolutely no spyware.
Spyware are worst enemy of web surfers. Why? It’s because these programs could change the way you connect to the internet. Worse, they could even download and upload files to your computer in the background, without your knowledge. A single spyware could be too much load on your computer. So if you have done all the tweaking and your internet connection speed is still slow, then there could be more than one spyware in your computer.
Speed up your connection by following these tips. Doing these things is rather simple and they won’t take too much of your time. If you do it right, you might just find yourself surfing pleasantly without much speed concerns.
