Preventing PC performance and Internet issues
Uncategorized December 18th, 2007PC performance and internet issues go together. If your computer is running slow, there are very high chances that your internet connection would run slow as well. To get optimum speed from your computer, you have to regularly perform some preventive steps. You have to do some maintenance routines to it so that you will be ensured of a fast and efficient computer every time.
PC performance and internet issues could be prevented by performing the following:
1. Stop downloading files from questionable websites.
You run the risk of acquiring a virus or a spyware if you download files, programs, and device drivers from sites that don’t look too trustworthy. You’ll know if the website is reputable just by looking at it. Does it have too many advertisements? Do you see pop-ups and pop-unders? A lot of websites are created to generate profits. And they lure web surfers by giving them freebies. If ever you doubt a website, don’t proceed with a download. There are other download sites that are highly regarded in the industry you can go to.
2. Surf the internet with care.
Sometimes people get too excited about something that they end up clicking links without knowing what they are or reading them at least. This could be a very harmful hobby. A lot of PC performance and internet issues arise from clicking links on instant messengers that came from people you don’t know. The rule of thumb is this: if you don’t know the person or the company that sends emails and messages to you, read what they have to say but don’t click on the link showing on the screen. Inspect them first. If it looks legitimate, type the link yourself or copy and paste it on the address bar to view the page. Make that a habit.
3. Use filters, firewalls, anti-virus, and anti-software.
Prevention is always better than cure. The more filters you have, the more protected your files and your entire computer system will be. PC performance and internet issues are prevented. Make sure that all your security programs are regularly updated and are running correctly. Having too many security layers in your computer could cause minor slowdown in the system. That’s an acceptable slowdown. Besides, you can’t feel it much anyway. But if it is spyware and virus that slowed down your computer, you will certainly feel the difference big time.
Just follow these three things and PC performance and internet issues will be history for you. Keep in mind that preventing problems could spare you from all troubles.
