Tips on Improving Wireless Internet Speed
Uncategorized December 17th, 2007Wireless internet is the trend today. Almost at the same time it is introduced to the market, people began tearing out their internet cables and started switching to wireless. But is that really feasible? Not so. Because wireless internet speed can go considerably lower than wired connections. Also, wired connections are more stable.
So before you do what others have done and take out your own network cables as well, you have to realize that you might not enjoy the same surfing experience you used to with a wired connection. Wireless connections are a good addition to any household. But it should never be used to replace the exiting ones that you have.
However, for those who really need to go wireless, here are good suggestions on how to improve your wireless internet speed:
1. Remove any obstructions that could deteriorate the signal.
Electronic devices, microwave ovens, and satellites, could all be a problem when it comes to wireless connections. As much as possible, these things should be used far away from your computer so that the signal from the wireless source works at its best.
2. Position your devices optimally.
Wireless routers or anything else that your internet provider gave you to gain wireless connection should be placed in a high spot. Signals travel through the air. So if there’s a clear path between the router to the client computer, your signal gets better and wireless internet speed is at maximum.
3. Use wireless cards and routers that match one another.
The biggest problem when it comes to wireless equipments is interoperability. The technology is rather new, so not all manufacturers are at par with each other when it comes to the latest innovations. So to spare you from all the headaches, try to buy routers, wireless cards, and all other necessary equipments from the same manufacturer.
4. Use only the wireless software recommended and compatible with your products.
Most of the time, manufacturers include a CD that includes the drivers and the software of their products. As much as possible, use them with your wireless devices. If you need to use other software, always ask the manufacturer first if that is compatible.
Improve wireless internet speed by checking out these four things. And once you have cleared them all, you should enjoy more stable and much faster surfing speeds. You can be anywhere around your house and still get to use the internet without any problems at all!
